Q. When viewed from a distance, MNM Art Studio's work looks "photo realistic" but up close, they look like a paintings. Are they paintings or a photographs?
A. The vast majority of the works are both. They are "digital paintings" created using a photograph (or several photographs) as source material. Technically, the are derivative works.

Q. Who takes the photographs?
A. Craig and Julie Morton (mostly Craig) provide source photography used in MNM Art Studios work. The only exception, is a series of African animals where the source photographs were taken by Dr. Arnold Kalan (see Gallery - Animals) and digitally painted and produced by Julie Morton.

Q. Why are the works signed "Morton & Morton"?
A . In recognition that it is a collaborative work of art created by Julie Morton digitally painting using Craig Morton's photographs as source material. The result typically looks more like a painting than a photograph as traditional painting painting techniques and media are digitally applied. The results are far more compelling than the original photographs.
